Yoko Kurama (妖狐蔵馬, lit. Yōko Kurama; Kurama the Yoko), also known as Shuichi Minamino (南野秀一, Minamino Shūichi translated as Southern Field and Excellence First), is one of the main protagonist in the manga and anime series of Yu Yu Hakusho.
He is voiced by Megumi Ogata (Shūichi) and Shigeru Nakahara (Yoko) in the original Japanese version and John Burgmeier in the FUNimation English dub, Candice Moore also voiced Kurama in the Animax Asia also in English dub. He is voiced by David Hayter in Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie and by Hideo Seaver in Yu Yu Hakusho the Movie: Poltergeist Report. Kurama as a child in the FUNimation dub is voiced by Candice Moore.

- Honorable: Kurama is incredibly loyal and affable to those he trusts while presenting many standards.
- Tragic Past: After reincarnating into a human boy, Kurama soon found himself caring for his human mother after she selflessly kept him from hitting his head at the cost of gaining notable scars. As a result, he began to blame himself when she got sick and even tried to sacrifice his own life to the Forlorn Hope to maintain her happiness.
- Intelligent: Kurama is a notable battle strategist and applies his abilities in brilliant ways.
- Naturally Talented: Due to being a fox, Kurama has many powerful abilities by natures.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Kurama desires to pay his heavy debt to Spirit World and atone for his sins.
- Stoical: Kurama is rather reserved for the most part.
- Persistent: Kurama is incredibly dedicated to seeing things through.
- Redemption Arc: Kurama was originally an infamous bandit who reincarnated into a human boy. Eventually, he began to care for his mother and even joined Team Urameshi upon gaining humanity.
- Is A Serious Threat/Villain: Is considered to be among the most powerful demons in the series.
- Unnatural Hair Color: Has red hair.
- Is a Mentor: Served as a mentor to Kuwabara.
- Vengeful: Kurama can be infamously brutal against his enemies at times and once justifiably killed a demon of the Dark Tournament in a flower explosion due to threatening Kurama's mother.
