Legolas and Gimli

What's The Work?[]

The Lord Of Rings is a famous saga about two hobbits, who destroy One Ring, which brings death to Sauron the Dark Lord.

Who Are They?[]

They are the major characters of this saga. Gimli son of Gloin is the dwarf and Legolas son of Thranduil is the elf.

Basic Traits[]

  • Heroic/Anti-Heroic/Anti-Villainous: Both join The Fellowship Of The Ring to help Frodo to destroy One Ring.
  • Honorable: Are friendly to each other even despite the prejudice of evles and dwarves towards each other.
  • Tragic: While not exactly tragic, they are both shown motherless in-story
  • Intelligent: Legolas is definitely a one. While Gimli is pugnatious (at least in films), he can use intelligence at times as well, such as when he asks Aragorn to thrown him through a pit he cannot jump over himself.
  • Naturally Talented: Legolas is an expert bowman and Gimli is an expert axeman.
  • Arrogant/Jerkish: Are rude to each other and to someone else at times.
  • Pursues a Big-End Goal: To help Frodo to destroy One Ring.
  • Cynical: While not exactly cynical, they may be rude at times.

Bonus Traits[]

  • Redemption Arc: Both subvert their prejudice towards each other's people.
  • Is A Serious Threat/Villain: To the Orcs.
  • Short-Tempered: Gimli scolded Merry and Pippin, seeing them enjoying themselves. Legolas (in the Hobbit films) threatened his own father Thranduil with a sword.
  • Spiky Hair/Unnatural Hairstyle: Played straigtly Legolas. The closest thing Gimli has to it is his bushy beard.
  • Born into Privilege: Legolas is a son of an elven ruler Thranduil.
  • Is a Chick/Dude Magnet: Gimli is shown to impress Eowyn. Legolas has a romantic feeling towards Tauriel.
  • Is a Blood Knight: Constantly compete each other in killing the Orcs.

Verdict[]

Strong Yes to both of them.
