Shrek is a media franchise of the DreamWorks Animation studio, based on the story Shrek! by William Steig and the characters from it.
The company produces animated films about the main character named Shrek based on the fairy tale story Shrek!, which was written and illustrated by American children's writer and animator William Steig. His story was first published in 1990.
The history of the franchise began with the release of the cartoon of the same name in 2001. The cartoon collected $284 million at the box office worldwide and received the first ever Oscar from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the category "Best Full-Length Animated Film".
Who Are They?[]
Donkey is a character in the Shrek media franchise. He is an adaptation of a character that appeared in the story Shrek! In the franchise, Donkey is Shrek's best friend and assistant, the husband of the Dragon. In the original, he is voiced by Eddie Murphy.
Puss in Boots is one of the main characters in the Shrek media franchise. Puss first appeared in the cartoon Shrek 2 (2004): according to the plot of the film, he was hired to kill the ogre Shrek, but, having been defeated in the fight, he went over to his side and became his faithful friend. In the film Shrek the Third (2007), Puss helps Shrek find an heir to the throne for the Far Far Away Kingdom, and in the cartoon Shrek Forever After (2010), in an alternative universe, the overweight Puss becomes the pet of Princess Fiona. The character's backstory is shown in the cartoon Puss in Boots (2011), which is a spin-off and prequel to the Shrek films. Puss is also the main character of the series The Adventures of Puss in Boots (2015-2018), released on Netflix. The hero returned in the animated film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022).
