Who is He?[]
Yuri is the secondary antagonist of the series. He is an SSS agent and Yor's brother who immediately takes a hatred to Loid upon their first appearance.
What Makes Him a Shonen Rival?[]
Basic Qualifications[]
- Anti-Villainous: While less villainous than other antagonists, Yuri has a tendency to use torture and other brutal methods as an SSS officer.
- Honorable: Yuri has been shown to possess a sense of honor, saying to Franklin Perkin that his father would be well-off during his sentence.
- Tragic: Along with his sister, Yuri was orphaned during the war as a young boy, which led to him developing his sister complex due to Yor becoming a mother figure toward him.
- Intelligent: While he can be very goofy at times, Yuri is generally quite intelligent and clever allowing him to land his job in the secret police.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: Yuri wants to capture Twilight and protect Yor at all costs.
- Jerkish: Yuri can be a massive jerk at times, showing great hostility at Anya mostly due to her poor schoolwork.

- Is a Serious Threat: Due to being a counterintelligence agent, Yuri can easily be considered Twilight's "cat".

Verdict[]
Weak yes. While he is Twilight's rival and has plenty of qualifiers, I feel he does not really fit in all that much in the rival trope in general, however, that may be an illusion given by SPY x FAMILY's setting.
