With the recent changes to the criteria, there are a few new characters who I plan to propose. For the first proposal this month, I'll propose the previously disallowed Amity Blight.
What's the Work?[]
The Owl House is a Disney animated series that follows the adventures of Luz Noceda, a young girl looking to learn magic in the Boiling Isles.
Who is She?[]
Amity Blight is the tritagonist of the Owl House who was originally an adversary to Luz before becoming her girlfriend.
What Makes Her a Shonen Rival?[]
- Heroic: Amity helped in saving people from Emperor Belos and stood up to her abusive mother to protect Luz.
- Honorable: Amity did show respect to Luz when realizing her inner kindness.
- Tragic: Amity had an abusive who had Amity try to fit the mold of a perfect child, causing her to be isolated from her real friends and being conceited as a result while remaining unhappy before meeting Luz.
- Intelligent: Amity is a wizarding prodigy who has a high score in academics.
- Naturally Talented: Amity has a natural talent for utilizing magical spells.
- Arrogant/Jerkish: While subverted, Amity was rather conceited and stuck-up in Season 1.
- Spiky Hair/Unnatural Hairstyle - By the epilogue, Amity altered her her to be more spiky and tall.
- Unnatural Hair Color - Already had green hair, and later dyed her hair purple.
- Born into Privilege - Was born in the Blight Family who were in charge of Blight Industries which had numerous machines under their control.
Verdict?[]
Yes. While she was originally disallowed, I believe that the new changes to the criteria will allow her to qualify.
