Miles Edgeworth, is the deuteragonist of the Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban/Turnabout Trial in Japan) franchise and the main protagonist of the investigations duology.
What Makes Him a Shonen Rival?[]
- Anti-Heroic/Anti-Villainous: Miles Edgeworth is trained by Manfred von Karma to become a ruthless prosecutor who would adopt questionable tactics to get a guilty verdict for the defendant. After he is defeated in court by Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth is motivated by him and eventually becomes a prosecutor to seek the truth.
- Honorable: Miles Edgeworth wanted to become a lawyer like his father when he was a pupil. Despite Manfred von Karma teaches him to become a ruthless prosecutor seeking to win, Miles Edgeworth refuses to intentionally use forged evidence, and, after Miles Edgeworth is motivated by Phoenix Wright, Miles Edgeworth abandons Manfred von Karma’s ideology and becomes honorable.
- Tragic: Gregory Edgeworth, Miles Edgeworth's father, is killed by Manfred von Karma during the DL-6 incident. Manfred von Karma adopts Miles Edgeworth and trains him to become a ruthless prosecutor like Manfred von Karma. The death of his father also leaves Miles Edgeworth fear of earthquakes and elevators.
- Intelligent: Miles Edgeworth is noted to be intelligent since his childhood. When Miles Edgeworth was a pupil, he won awards in school for various activities. Miles Edgeworth's intelligence allows him to become a famed prosecutor.
- Naturally Talented: Miles Edgeworth has influences from Gregory Edgeworth, his father and a lawyer, and Manfred von Karma, a prosecutor, which allows him to understand the law and show his talent in law since his childhood.
