Kieran (Suguri in the original Japanese version) is a recurring character in the DLC expansions for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
What Makes Him a Shonen Rival?[]
- Anti-Heroic/Anti-Villainous: Kieran starts as a friendly rival of the player's character, before seeing that Ogerpon recognizes the player's character instead of him and believing that he is too weak to be recognized. Then, he changes his hairstyle, isolates himself, and starts to extensively train his skill in Pokémon battle in order to win the player's character but eventually fails to the player’s character twice. His failures to the player's character make him to rethink himself.
- Honorable: Kieran is a person who shows honor, though his honor has changed and been challenged throughout the story.
- Intelligent: Though he is not as skilled as the player's character and Nemona, Kieran has the skill and his hard-working to become the Champion of the BB League.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: After believing that the player's character betrayed him and that the reason why Ogerpon does not recognize him is because he is weak, he works hard to become strong.
- Believes in the Power of Individual Strength: Kieran believes that the reason why Ogerpon does not recognize him is because he is weak and starts to isolate himself and starts to extensively train his skill in Pokémon battle.
- Spiky Hair/Unnatural Hairstyle: Kieran has hairstyle which can be considered unnatural.
- Unnatural Hair Color: Kieran's hair color is black and his hair is with mauve underlayer.
